Bonding Over Breakfast with Vince and Laureen Uy.
Eating breakfast in the morning may be common practice but it certainly is not a strict rule. Whoever said you could only have champorado upon waking up? Definitely not the guys of Early Bird Breakfast Club which has become a haven for morning meal hunters any time of day.
Siblings Vince and Laureen Uy admit to being nocturnal creatures. Given the demands of their dynamic careers – Vince is Summit Media’s group creative director, a style savant and LGBT icon while Laureen is a top fashion blogger and entrepreneur – it is easy to understand their very active social lives. But no matter how hectic their schedules might get, there is one thing they always make time for – breakfast.
“My mother was big on breakfast,” shares Vince. “She would cook, sit down with us, and make sure we finish our breakfast.” And what kind of daytime dishes did the Uys grow up with? “Rice! We would have silog meals with my mom’s homemade tapa or corned beef,” Vince narrates. “My all-time favorite is tuyo!” Laureen admits. Breakfast fare for their Filipino-Chinese family also includes congee and noodles. “Our grandparents used to make this crispy pancit omelet. It was simple, distinct and delicious!” Vince reminisces.
Because breakfast invokes many warm memories for Vince and Laureen, it is a meal they seek for comfort and familiarity. “When we travel, we try to have breakfast all together. Wherever we are, we usually end up eating bacon.” Laureen jokes.
“I chanced upon Early Bird Breakfast Club after a night out with some colleagues,” Vince shares. “I was drawn to its cozy ambiance but fell in love with the food!” It was a taste of home for Vince who has been living on his own for sometime now. Laureen meanwhile discovered Early Bird Breakfast Club thru Instagram. "I saw beautiful photos of its food on my feed," she says. "When I finally got to visit, I enjoyed sampling their dishes as much as taking pictures of the interiors especially of the murals."
Now, Early Bird Breakfast Club has become another common favorite between the siblings. “It's my go-to place after a party or a tough day at work,” Vince continues. “Sometimes I would eat at Early Bird at 5am before heading home, and wonder if what I had should count as my last or first meal of the day.”
Whatever time or the reason, whether you're an early bird or a night owl, fill your need for a satisfying comfort meal in your own li le haven at the Early Bird Breakfast Club.
